The pilot phase of the national Maritime Traffic Notification Service NEMO is approaching. The pilot phase of the production environment will start on 1 January 2026, when pilot organisations will be able to sign in to NEMO and start submitting port call notifications for after 1 March 2026. During the pilot phase, operators submitting port call notifications – such as shipping companies and agencies – will be able to work with ports and authorities in the actual production environment before nationwide deployment.
Genuine use helps finalise NEMO
Pilot organisations play a key role in the successful deployment of NEMO. In the pilot phase, authorities and ports will use both systems side by side, but the pilot organisations will already be committed to the operational use of the new system. This procedure will produce valuable feedback on different use cases for nationwide deployment.
You can join the pilot phase by sending email to emsw@fintraffic.fi by 30 June 2025 at the latest. Please also state in the email whether your organisation’s primary notification channel is a user interface or an API.
The pilot phase will start with training already in autumn 2025, and operators will get to start testing the production environment from the beginning of 2026!
Instructions and support for developing interfaces will be available in upcoming interface webinars and user training, whose schedules will be specified during summer 2025.
